Yoder was born to parents Michael and Rebecca Yoder on January 21, 1997, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

His mother enrolled him in a “mommy and me” gymnastics class when he was four years old, and he’s been training ever since.

After moving to Fishers, Indiana, he enrolled at Deveau’s School of Gymnastics.

Alec Yoder: “You’re Not Going to Overlook Me Again”

No, this was not a huge Hollywood production. Alec Yoder, while working as a Doordash deliveryman.

He did not envision hearing his name called at the U.S. Olympic trials in late June or stepping foot outside of the Ariake Gymnastics Centre in Tokyo, Japan, in 2020.

There was not a montage of triumph set to stirring music. He did it because he needed the money to pay his bills.

“I was probably picturing more along the lines of’man, I can’t believe I have to be doing this right now.

Yoder said earlier this month in an exclusive interview with Olympics.com, “like, this just sucks.”

At the end of February, Yoder was left off the U.S. national team despite winning his specialty event, the pommel horse, at the Winter Cup.

‘A dream’: Indianapolis Gymnast Alec Yoder Advances to Olympic Final on Pommel Horse

It seems that Alec Yoder has been overlooked for national teams. His participation in the Olympic Trials was unexpectedly delayed.

A late realisation that his expertise in a particular type of event made him eligible for Olympic participation.

The Indianapolis gymnast, who is 24 years old, now has a legitimate shot at a medal.

After qualifying as one of the top eight men on the pommel horse on Saturday night, Yoder will be competing for a medal in the event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The championship will be held at the Ariake Gymnastics Centre on Sunday, August 1 at 5:44 am EST.

The former Ohio State gymnast predicted correctly that he would receive higher scores from international judges than from those in his home country.

On the whole, he placed in the top four with a 15.20, and his 8.80 execution score was good for second place.

Lee Chih Kai of Chinese Tapei had the best score, 15.266. Lee scored 15.266.

Rhys McClenaghan of Ireland and Kohei Kameyama of Japan both scored the same, but their execution scores were lower (8.86).

Conclusion

At the 2014 Men’s Junior Olympic Nationals, Yoder took first place in the individual competition.

At that competition, he also took first place on the horizontal bar and the pommel horse.

As a direct result of that performance, Yoder was selected by the United States Olympic Committee to represent the United States at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China. Thanks for reading our article Alec Yoder Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.
