Every one of the five dives in a given round must come from a different one of the six categories (forward, back, reverse, inward, twisting, and armstand). Somersaults, position, twists, approach, and entry are all taken into account when determining a dive’s level of difficulty.

Dive difficulty is not capped; even the FINA-calculated hardest dives (reverse 4 12 somersault in pike position and armstand reverse 4 somersault in pike position) are fair game for competitors. A group of seven judges will determine the final scores.

In the women’s 10 metre platform diving final at the Olympics, Quan Hongchan performed flawlessly and set a new world record.

In the final round of the women’s 10m platform diving competition at the Tokyo Olympics, Chinese diver Quan Hongchan performed two dives that received perfect scores of 10 from all seven judges.

Quan, who turned 14 in March and is the youngest athlete representing China in Tokyo, entered the pool without making a single splash despite looking every bit the seasoned veteran that she is.

She won the gold medal with a score of 466.20, breaking the previous Olympic record by over ten points (447.70). The latest Olympic champion diver from China started training because she needed to help pay for her sick mother’s treatment all year long.

Young Chinese Divers Continue their Winning Streak

In the women’s 10 metre synchronised platform competition on Tuesday, teen divers Chen Yuxi and Zhang Jiaqi absolutely annihilated their opponents, bringing China’s winning streak in the event to six consecutive Olympics.

The two teenagers, aged 15 and 17, were unmatched at the Tokyo Aquatics Center. They celebrated their victories with a group hug at the podium.

They scored 363.78 points, 52 points better than the runner-up American duo of Jessica Parratto and Delaney Schnell.

Conclusion

While the most difficult dives calculated in the FINA rulebook. A group of seven judges will determine the final scores.

(reverse 4 12 somersault in pike position and armstand reverse 4 somersault in pike position) are 4.8, competitors are free to attempt even more difficult dives.

Each judge assigns a score between 0 and 10 in increments of 0.5 for each dive.

Two extreme scores are thrown out, as are the two lowest. Dive scores are calculated by adding the remaining three scores and then multiplying by the difficulty rating.

The final score for the round is calculated by adding the points from all five dives. Thanks for reading our article Women’s 10m Platform Diving Olympic 2021 Results.
