They finished ahead of Poland (3:20.53) and Jamaica (3:21.24), who tied for third.

Dalilah Muhammad, Athing Mu, Sydney McLaughlin, and Allyson Felix can all celebrate this victory together.

In any case, it was a historic achievement for Allyson Felix. This is the 11th Olympic medal for the American runner.

With this, she broke the previous record she had shared with Carl Lewis from Friday’s bronze medal performance in the women’s 400-meter final.

The United States team did not suffer an upset. The oddsmakers at DraftKings Sportsbook had them as overwhelming favourites to win the competition.

Their odds of victory were set at -650, which was lower than those of Jamaica (+500), Poland (+1200), or Great Britain (+3500).

The United States Women’s 4x400m Relay Team Brought Home the 13th Gold Medal

The U.S. women’s 4x400m relay team won their third consecutive World Athletics Championships title on Sunday night, bringing home the 13th gold medal for Team USA.

They beat out Jamaica and Great Britain. The first two legs of the race hinted at a close finish.

But Britton Wilson’s incredible third leg gave his team a lead that could not be overcome, even with Sydney McLaughlin at the helm with the stick.

Talitha Diggs took the early lead as she ran the first leg of the race, but Jamaica, Great Britain, and Canada stayed close behind her up until the exchange.

Abby Steiner won the second leg for the U.S. and took a slim advantage into the second changeover.

On the third leg, as Britton Wilson began to pull away from the rest of the pack, she gave everyone the chills.

The Arkansas Razorback and reigning NCAA 400-meter hurdle champion was in stunning form.

Extending the American lead as they approached the handoff with a comfortable margin of about 15 metres to pass the baton to Sydney McLaughlin.

Conclusion

On what was supposed to be her final race before calling it a career, Felix helped the U.S. mixed relay team win bronze on the first night of competition.

American coaches must have been impressed by her performance because they dragged her out of her two-minute retirement to have her run in the 4x400m relay.

Diggs ran the first leg of the semifinal and passed the baton to Felix, who was in the second spot.

Diggs remarked, “It’s pretty awesome to give her her final relay exchange.”

By the time Felix reached Kaylin Whitney waiting at the end of the straightaway, he had given her a respectable one-second lead. Thanks for reading our article USA Women’s 4×400 Relay Team 2021.
