American sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson will compete against the other three Olympic 100-meter medalists in a meet next week in Eugene, Oregon.

Richardson, who became an overnight sensation after winning the U.S. Olympic trials in June, will compete in the Prefontaine Classic.

After winning gold in both the 100- and 200-meter events at Tokyo 2020, the two-time Olympic champion in the 100-meter dash dominated the field.

In the first post-Games Diamond League event, the Prefontaine Classic 100-meter dash for women, winning in a world-record time of 10.54 seconds.

Thompson-Herah won in Tokyo with a time of 10.61 seconds.

Just like in Tokyo, Jamaica would finish 1-2-3, with Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in second place (10.73) and Shericka Jackson in third (10.76).

To make matters worse, Sha’Carri Richardson, an American who was barred from competing in the Olympics due to a doping ban for marijuana use.

Got off to a sluggish start and never recovered. There were nine runners, and she placed ninth.

Lyles, Mu Score Victories on Busy Day

Both the 200-meter race (won by American Noah Lyles in 19.52) and the 800-meter race (won by American Athing Mu) went to Americans.

Lyles won bronze in Tokyo but would have won gold in this competition.

“The events in Tokyo occurred, but we are not in Tokyo anymore. I aimed to put forth my best effort here.

“To quote Lyles from NBC: The crowd was so enthusiastic that he said, “Shoot, these are my people!”

Kenny Bednarek, who won silver at the Olympics, finished second, and Lyles’ brother Josephus came in third.

Although not on the Diamond League schedule, the women’s 800m was still run as part of the overall competition.
